In-person Triathlon – There are still Registration Spots Available

• If you pre-registered on 3/5/24 night but did not complete your full registration by 3/8/4 you will need to start over and complete a new registration; but hurry, spots are going fast!
• In-person event registration closes on April 14 or when registration reaches 1,600 – whichever comes first. When registration reaches the cap of 1,600, the waitlist will become available.

Virtual Triathlon – Registration for the Virtual Triathlon is Open Too

Grab your friends and family near and far and race the GNT together virtually. There is no cap to how many can register for the virtual event. We would love to see someone from every state – call on your friends and family members to join the fun now!

Registration Events

• In-Person Registration – closes April 14  or when registration reaches 1,600, whichever comes first.
• Virtual Registration – closes May 20. The dates of the actual event are May 10 – 26.

Registration Timeline:

• 3/5/24 – 8:00 p.m. – PRE-REGISTRATION (PHASE 1 as we call it) OPEN FOR 4 HOURS ONLY!
  • This is the shorter version of registration. This phase will close at 11:59 p.m. on 3/5/24. If you miss this phase, full registration will open again on 3/9/24. If you are interested in purchasing a lane bid or assuring the event does not sell out before you register we highly recommend you take advantage of the Pre-Registration Phase. In past years Pre-Registration has sold-out in the first 20 minutes. If that happens there will not be a need for in person registration on 3/9/24; however virtual registration will be opened.
• 3/6/24 – 7:45 p.m. – FULL-REGISTRATION (PHASE 2)
  • For those who completed the Pre-Reg (Phase 1) portion of the registration, you will receive a link to now go in and fully register. YOU HAVE ONLY 48 HOURS TO COMPLETE YOUR FULL REGISTRATION. This phase closes on 3/8/24 at midnight. Again, If you are interested in purchasing a lane bid OR assuring the event does not sell out before you register we highly recommend you complete your full registration by 3/8/24 at midnight.
• 3/8/24 – MIDNIGHT – PHASE 2 REGISTRATION CLOSES
• 3/9/24 – IN-PERSON EVENT & VIRTUAL REGISTRATION OPENS
  • In past years Pre-Registration has sold out in the first 20 minutes. If that happens there will NOT be a need for in person registration on 3/9; however virtual registration will be opened.
• 4/14/24 – IN-PERSON REGISTRATION CLOSES (or when registration cap reaches 1,600 – whichever comes first). Once registration is closed a waitlist will open.
• 4/10/24 – UPDATE INFORMATION DEADLINE – last day to update estimated swim time, change team names, update T-shirt sizes and/or make any changes to your registration information.
• 5/20/24 – VIRTUAL REGISTRATION CLOSES. Transfers from the in-person event to virtual registration may also be done up to this date. See ‘manage your own registration’ below to make changes to your own registration.

2024 REGISTRATION FEES

In-Person and Virtual:
$80.00* – Adults 18 & over
$36.00* – Youth ages 10 – 17
$100.00 – Lane Bid (100 lane bids available). This is in addition to the registration fee(s). Racers purchasing lane bids will split lanes (rather than snake swimming) and start directly after the top seeded racers. All racers, including lane bids, will swim 400 yards. Lane bid racers will swim in the shallow end of the pool only, splitting a lane with another racer; essentially having half of the lane to swim up and back.

*Race fees do not include USAT licensing fees. See below.

Note: Age is based on your age on 12/31/2024, not your age at the time of registration or race date – This is a USAT age based requirement.

USAT MEMBERSHIP FEES

USAT is the sanctioning organization that provides GNT with the insurance needed to put on a race such as this. Known as a license or membership, this is a fee paid by each racer to participate.
Effective January 2024, USAT has established a new one-day and annual licensing/membership plan. Learn more about USAT membership.

Adults
$13.00 – Bronze Level membership – USAT one-day membership fees are based on event type (i.e., Sprint, Olympic, Long Distance etc.). GNT is classified as a Sprint Distance Event.

USAT annual memberships (Silver, Gold, & Platinum) must be purchased directly from USAT. See more here for purchasing an annual plan. You must have your USAT membership number available at registration or you will be required to pay for a Bronze Level membership.

Youth and Junior Premier Membership for athletes 17 and younger.
For athletes 17 and younger, USAT membership starts the day of purchase and lasts until the athlete’s 18th birthday. Sign up for a youth and junior premier membership today! You will need your membership number to complete your GNT registration. 

Youth and Adults
As with all USAT memberships, an integrated registration system, like the one used by GNT (RunSignUp), has access to your current membership expiration date. If that membership expires prior to race day, you will be prompted to renew your membership in order to complete your GNT registration. You can do both during the registration process or you can go to your USAT profile and assure you have your membership number and expiration date. You do not need to verify that your membership is valid during the ‘pre-registration’ phase. You will need to have and provide a valid USAT membership during the ‘full-registration’ phase or be required to pay the Bronze Level membership at the time of registration.

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

The Gold Nugget Triathlon will not deny participation due to financial need. Our goal is that all girls and women can participate, regardless of income and has an application process for a limited number of free scholarship entries.*

Complete the GNT scholarship application by Friday, February 18, 2024, at 8:00 p.m.

The GNT Board will review applications and notify recipients by 8:00 p.m. on February 21, 2024.

*Financial scholarship arrangements do not guarantee entry into the race; recipients still need to register for the event before registration sells out or closes.
